[Liz isn't sure what's going on or how the heck she ended up in the room she's now standing in, but she is nore than a little bit alarmed. The last thing she remembered was helping Chloe escape the Edison Group's facility. The chaos of the demon summonings and people dying ..]

[She looks around the room, only vaguely taking solace that this place looks different than any of the Edison facilities she's been in so far.]

[Then she sees the journal sitting on the small desk and walks over to it. She's not thinking at first and simply reaches for it, expecting her hand to pass right through it .. when it thumps right into it.]

What??

[Cue Liz just kind of staring at the book for several moments before lifting it to read.]

[She spends the next several minutes figuring out how to post something.]

Umm .. Hi, am I doing this right? Wow .. okay, this is really crazy. And I mean really crazy, and please believe me when I say I know crazy.

Ahh .. [She trails off, watching as the words appear in the journal as she says them.]

Okay .. that's cool .. not even going to lie about how cool that is. Does it work like this for everyone? Umm .. is there an everyone? I mean, this is way too advanced for the Edison Group .. So, there's other people here too, right?

Umm .. okay, so .. introductions, I guess? My name's Liz .. annnnd .. I guess this Deior guys is a pretty powerful wizard or something right? 'Cause .. I'm supposed to be dead ..

[Unfortunately Liz hasn't tried to open the door yet, or she'd find that she's quite possibly still very much her former ghostly self. Someone is will likely suffer a pretty big disappointment when she realizes things aren't quite as they seem..]

[Liz listens to this all with rather intense interest, as it kinda sorta involves her directly (let alone her friends whom she's only just found again).]

What kinda rules can we break? And what sort of trial? You mean we get punished for, like, rule breaking, right?

[She was surprised that things happened when one didn't write in the journal, but one of the opening things from the Deior guy had included that one must keep records, so that wasn't too surprising.]

God, they like need a rule book for all of this .. it's like some board game gone bad.

[Then he says the last, however, and she sighs softly, nodding.]

I guess you're right .. I mean, there's not any point in freaking out if we can't do anything about it in the first place, right?

[Until, of course, they found out a way to do something about it.]

The rules we know about are don't hurt anybody and don't break anything, but they didn't bother to tell us before they got broken.
And I guess its not so much of a trial as it is a punishment since they just say what the person did then skip to the show.

Yeah.

[Liz's eyes are widening now .. yep .. just a bit.]

Okay .. so I get the getting in trouble for fighting and breaking stuff, cause even school was like that, but, like .. they punished people before the rules were even stated? Cause, that's, like .. just setting us up for punishment .. I mean, yeah, we'll use common sense and not do anything we think is bad, but if we don't know, then it could be an awfully shitty surprise ..

Yep, pretty much.

*He thinks they did it that way on purpose, though.*

[Liz exhales sharply, displeased by this bit of news, but at least happy that she was told.]

Thanks for the warning .. God, is there, like, anything else I should know about .. man-eating cheese or killer cacti or anything like that?

[Her tone says that she's only kind of kidding ..]

The forest is dangerous and don't go underground if you can help it.

[Liz's brows arch at that reply, having been uncertain if she'd get any such warning at all.]

Duely noted .. leave the shrubbery alone and avoid dark, earthy places .. Does that last one just include inside the castle or outside the castle? Like .. dungeons .. or like, caves?

[Cause if the clarification could save her life, she wanted to be absolutely sure.]

Like underground period.

[Liz exhales and purses her lips at this, finally nodding.]

Alright so .. no fighting or wrecking the place and I should make a point to avoid the man-eating plants in the forest and anything resembling underground, whether indoor or out. Dare I, like, ask why I should avoid the underground? I'm not doubting you, Sollux .. just call it morbid curiosity ..

The animals in the forest are supposed to be trouble, too.

*He sighs, these are far from pleasant memories you're bringing up here.*

Some of the underground area is safe, but it could turn dangerous at any time since there are monsters down there. But the worst are the black tunnels, they change on you, fuck with time, and you can only get out if someone leads you out.
Or if you die.

[Liz listens attentively as Sollux explains in further detail and then, by the time he's done, she feels really bad. With the description of events given, there really is only one way he knows so much about it. However specifically it happened, Sollux died down there..

She is silent for several beats before speaking again, her tone not quite as light. She remembered her own death, after all, and it was no walk in the park.]

Sorry .. I didn't mean to bring up any bad memories or anything ..

[She chews in her lip for a moment before moving the topic away from death. See, Sollux, she is attentive and thoughtful.]

What is there to do around here? Or should I just not ask ..?

*He just hmphs in response to the apology.*

Pretty much nothing. There's a library but almost all of its useless. There are some games on the fourth floor, though.

*Well, for people who can touch them at least.*

[As an average, well not so average, teenager, Liz pulls a face as Sollux describes the awe astounding good times to be had at the Keep.]

Well holy smokes, I don't know how I'll be able to contain myself for the, like, sheer amounts of fun I'll be having here.

[She sighs and flops back onto her bed, staring up at the ceiling.]

Dare I ask what kinda games? Is it even a current system? I mean, like, I don't wanna sound like Rae, but it will be sooooo depressing if it's, like, an SNES or something..

I don't know what level of tech you have in your world, but it seems to span a few eras. Some really old stuff and some not as old stuff, but all on consoles and nothing else. Some of its not that far from some of the games we had, I guess.

[She ponders this for a moment, lips pursed.]

Well, I think we were pretty average for our technology, but who knows when, like, compared to others, you know? From the sound of it, there could be any number of people here that are from more advanced worlds than I am.

I guess I'll have to poke around and see what they have .. If all else fails, I guess Mario Brothers really isn't, like, that horrible .. and reading a book certainly never killed me.

I don't recognize any of the titles, actually, its all generic crap but they can still be a lot of fun. At least compared to anything else here.

[And again, Liz makes a face, but she quickly flips this to the positive, because it's just what she does!]

So .. you play video games, huh? We should play some time .. I mean, I'm not, like, as good as Rae at them or anything, but they're fun and certainly better than sitting in a room, staring at the ceiling ..

*Sollux hesitates before replying. More people to play games with is usually good, but this girl is just...way too happy. He's pretty sure he can't take that very long, its already giving him (more of) a headache.*

Yeah, sure, if you still want to after you get used to the place. You just got here, you might want to look around some first.

[Yeah, Liz's positivity is best taken in small servings .. like a fine wine. But give her time, Sollux .. you'll probably find she's dimmed a touch in just a few days. Finding out one is still actually dead and not alive tends to have that effect on a girl.

For the moment, however, she is clueless about that and simply nods to herself.]

Point taken .. I could, like, definitely do with a round of exploration, that's for sure.
